Observation Day: 1

Hello, I welcome you to this new post.

From today I’m going to start new series (observation). Where I will share my daily progress of concentration. (I’m convinced by Swami Vivekananda's book and it motivated me to start observation.)

‘Meditation and its methods in this book swami Vivekananda explained that we should start to concentrate on any object. This is a basic and first step of meditation. He further added, “ if you are able to concentrate on an object then you can concentrate on anything without any disturbance. That’s why in this new series I will try to explain my experiences with observation. You may think “what I’m doing this useless thing, I should invest time to gather information/knowledge.” Firstly my perspective was also the same but when I read the (meditation and its methods) book. I could able to understand, I should focus on concentration instead of education(learning). Because if we could able to increased concentration then it will not take long to learn anything.

First Observation experience:

It’s evening time, I’ve four plants in my window, one of them is the hibiscus plant. For 35 minutes I’m observing a leaf of that plant. (mind wasn’t really concentrated so I took 3 small breaks) The first 7–8 minutes were boring. I felt to have given up, but after that, I was enjoying observing that leaf. It was a nice experience. This is a very good experiment. Even though it was my first time I feel little calm. I will continue it with patience. Swami Vivekananda explained in that book. “We should focus on the object until we are able to connect that object mentally until we have full focus on that thing.”

Don’t just read, you can also do it. It will take time but we will be able to accumulate full concentration. If you still thinking this is not going to help then you must read that book. It’s one of the great books on meditation which is written by Swami Vivekananda.

It’s time to leave, see you in the next observation experience.
